Mobile Homes for sale in the Dordogne

Summer and ski jobs in France

The Dordogne, Lot and Limoges areas have been popular with foreign house buyers for years and years. No wonder given the rich history and amazing food (apart from all the fois gras and cuisse de canard you can get a duck pizza with an egg on it).

The countryside is stunning with one of the most famous rivers in France winding its way through medieval and even troglodyte villages. Interestingly, the French call it the ‘Cote Anglaise’. Fair or not, this tongue-in-cheek comment is accurate in that literally thousands of British, Irish and Dutch people have retired or bought a holiday home here over the last 15 or 20 years. This has driven up prices for housing and there is not a barn left within 200 miles of Sarlat that needs renovating.

On the plus side, many dilapidated hamlets and town houses have been refurbished with the injection of foreign cash and local economies have benefited enormously so you don’t really find a general dislike of foreigners here. If you struggle with French there are lots of English speaking tradesmen in the Dordogne and its easy to get hold of Sky telly if you miss Eastenders.

Campsites are normally either big old grand Castell type sites or very basic 100 pitch tourer sites. Either way there are lots of options if you don’t have the money to compete for barn renovations! Ownaholidayhome (Holiday Breaks sales arm) sells new and ex-rental mobile homes onto a site called Le Coiroux in the Dordogne.
